Description
Responsibilities of the position include:
•Tutoring students in reading
•Referring students to assignments and evaluating their work
•Coordinating students’ lab work with class work
•Conducting special workshops and tutorials
•Creating lessons and other student materials
•Training and supervising assistants
•Coordinating day and night lab activities
•Selecting and maintaining materials and equipment and keeping accurate inventory
•Maintaining lab records and preparing and filing reports
•Creating and maintaining an atmosphere conducive to learning
•Coordinating Regents’ Test preparation with the Writing Lab Director
•Teaching reading classes as needed
•Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required:
•Master’s degree in reading or related area with 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours of reading courses
•At least two years’ experience tutoring or teaching reading
•Computer literacy and technology experience
Preferred:
•Experience teaching college-level and/or adult students
Contract Provisions:
•Twelve-month position available immediately
•Salary commensurate with education and experience
•All benefits are provided by the University System of Georgia, including hospital and major medical insurance, group life insurance, Georgia Teachers’ Retirement System, Social Security, liability insurance, and Workman’s Compensation
