HUMANITIES ENGLISH FACULTY POSITION
(Non-Tenure Track)
Responsibilities of the position include:
•Teach college English courses
•Advise an assigned group of students
•Participate in division and college committees and projects
•Participate in community activities
•Continue professional growth and development
•Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required:
•Master's degree in English with at least 18 graduate semester hours or 27 graduate quarter hours in the discipline
•One or more graduate courses in rhetoric and/or composition studies
•Experience teaching English composition
•Commitment to the teaching and learning process in a two-year community college
•Computer literacy and willingness to use technology for classroom instruction and distance learning
Preferred:
•Doctorate in English or English-related area
•Experience teaching college English
•Second teaching field (18 graduate semester or 27 graduate quarter hours) in journalism, speech communication, Spanish, French, or German
•Experience teaching at a community college
•Preparation and willingness to teach distance learning classes
Contract Provisions:
•Full-time, non-tenure track position available January 6, 2009
•Rank: Instructor or Assistant Professor
•Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
•Faculty receive all benefits provided by the University System of Georgia, including hospital and major medical insurance, group life insurance, Georgia Teachers' Retirement System, Social Security, liability insurance, and Workman's Compensation
