Description
Responsibilities of the position include:
•Teaching speech communication courses. Summer teaching optional.
•Advising an assigned group of students.
•Participating in division and college committees and projects.
•Participating in community activities.
•Continuing professional growth and development.
•Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
•Master’s degree in non media-related communication field (with 18 graduate semester hours or 27 graduate quarter hours in speech communication).
•Experience teaching speech communication.
•Commitment to the teaching and learning process in a two-year community college.
•Computer literacy and use of technology in classroom instruction.
Preferred:
•Doctorate in speech communication.
•Second teaching field (18 graduate semester hours) in English, theatre, or journalism.
•Experience teaching freshman and sophomore speech communication, English, or
journalism at a community college.
Contract Provisions:
•Full-time, tenured track, academic year position available January 6, 2009.
•Rank: Instructor or Assistant Professor
•Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
•Faculty receive all benefits provided by the University System of Georgia, including hospital and major medical insurance, group life insurance, Georgia Teachers’ Retirement System, Social Security, liability insurance, and Workman’s Compensation.
